I’ve seen bias on other topics like sustainability in my industry, in a focus group (so I advised they redesign it, pair it with individual anonymised data as well). We also see it in usability testing 1:1 so have to be really careful.
I actually organise volunteer days with colleagues, and we get a good response, and the company provides the days off because it looks good for them (and helps team building!)

@nicklockwood@mastodon.social @morganth@social.tchncs.de Feedback from our groups is that it’s good for their mental health too, which is a win/win for the business and the charity ☺️ I try to balance requests by volunteering for things I know I can actually do a good job with (design, research, plants!) and if someone asks for help with something I suck at I’ll try to find someone more applicable (still being useful and actually trying to help) or explain I’ll help where I can. 3/3
