Shopify CEO Tobi Lütke thinks your right to vote should be linked to how much income tax you pay. On #TechWontSaveUs, I spoke to Rachel Gilmore to dig into how Shopify’s leaders are pushing right-wing politics in Canada — and why people should think twice about using the company’s services. @parismarx@mastodon.online I don't know. I kind of agree with him but the other way around. The more money you make, the less your vote should count.

@parismarx@mastodon.online I don't have much of an opinion on Mark Carney even if he was our Governor of the Bank of England but I can see why he might feel like he is between a rock and a hard place with tech and trying to get away from the US. Maybe his biggest failing is that billionaires don't care about nations. I'm sure Tobi would happily join Elon and others to form their own nation if we still had land left to claim for a new nation.

@parismarx@mastodon.online Ok, but if your right of vote is linked to your income tax, then shutting down a store should be treated as voter suppression! Ah, yes, now I remember. That's not actively prosecuted in the land of the free. It's pursued.
