@april@macaw.social I'm assuming this is referring VLC? So we are talking about AI in general not just generative AI, right? I'd say it completely depends on the product. Routing in Google Maps? Yes please. A chess program with a chess AI? Would be better, yes. Automatic real-time transcription for videos without subtitles? Makes sense. A function that rewrites my emails to be more wordy? Meh, maybe not. Semantic search of automatic desktop screenshots? I don't even understand the product.

@april@macaw.social Ebay keeps offering to rewrite my listings with AI ; I almost want to try it just to see what a shit show it makes of my aquarium ornament listings, but I do not want Ebay seeing I am using their robot garbage. How would a robot describe this anyway?
