Just read a scathing review of the new Amazon Mike Flanagan CARRIE series by a Patreon writer/critic I follow. The show sounds laughably bad. Did you know it's not a one-and-done series, but will be part of a planned Stephen King Extended Universe (tm)? What?! That King is enthusiastic about Mike Flanagan taking the helm of these planned shows/movies is unsurprising; King is famously bad at judging adaptations of his work. I have such mixed feelings on Flanagan that are souring by the year. When he was low budget filmmaker his horror could be inventive and dark. Absentia, Oculus, Ouija: Origin of Evil, Hush (tho I dislike that movie for how shoddy its logic is). But, man, Haunting of Hill House falls completely apart in the last episode--you mean to tell me that the evil house that has been driving people to suicide to trap their souls is now the benevolent keeper of said souls where we can go visit our loved ones? Anyway, this sounds so misguided as to be abusrd. Not anything I'd subscribe to Amazon for let alone watch. https://www.patreon.com/cinemasangha/posts/i-watched-first-172288261?utm_medium=clipboard_copy&utm_source=copyLink&utm_campaign=postshare_fan&utm_content=web_share
