Nude and old books — a combination I'll never stop loving. Just love the concept: she reads like the library's last inhabitant, absorbed in that huge folio while a whole wall of clothbound spines stands witness behind her. The candle on the lectern is a beautiful touch — as if electricity never quite reached this corner — and the light sliding along her shoulder and thigh mirrors the soft glow on the open pages. The brick wall on the right adds just the right roughness against all that smooth skin. Not sure about the window on the left though — that bright doorway pulls the eye away from her, and a touch less of the adjacent room would keep the whole world inside this one quiet scene. Still, timeless work.
