In the same way that homeownership compels conservative belief in property claims, monogamy compels conservative belief on the acceptable limits of care. The family becomes the de facto horizon of empathy. So no I won't do the liberal both-sidesism of mono/poly, because one has a vested interest in the foreclosure of possibility and the other doesn't!!
