@jmbmkn@mastodon.scot @libreoffice@fosstodon.org if even half the Wikipedia article on the source for Euro Office is correct (OnlyOffice) I’d never want to touch it.

@jmbmkn@mastodon.scot @libreoffice@fosstodon.org I imagine it is for ease of migration. Whether ooxml is good or bad is beside the point when in reality, most of the rest of the world are using it.

@jmbmkn@mastodon.scot @libreoffice@fosstodon.org euro office is a fork of only office, the later defaulted to ooxml since I don't know (maybe the start) to appeal to enterprise customers probably. The fork is supposed to fix this, but when it will be "done" and when they will default to this open format is a legitimate question.

@jmbmkn@mastodon.scot @libreoffice@fosstodon.org S'rsly? Wasted effort. Handing MS extra influence, when they have form for abusing their own OOXML standard, and form going back to the early MS Office for Mac days, for breaking standards and breaking docs. Even earlier, remember the times when each new version of DOS broke Lotus 1-2-3? Pure coincidence, of course... If MS can break EuroOffice compatibility, they will. They can't help themselves. I trust MS about as far as I could spit a rat.
