i agree about phones being a terrible idea to allow in schools in (current year).
But also you know teachers are just going to say “no” to a student asking for a permissions slip. Some of my teachers were not lax about phone usage, and those tended to be the classes where I consistently forgot what homework was due.
Partial exceptions are only partially useful.

you don’t request the permission from tge teacher though. It’s a school policy and a teacher likely cannot overrule it anyway. you request the permission from the principal or the school psychologist, or whoever deals with kids special needs.
