@signalapp@mastodon.world nice! Does this mean an Android user can migrate chat history to an iPhone now?

@signalapp@mastodon.world When will I be able to ditch Android entirely though?

@signalapp@mastodon.world What about for those who want to go analog? We should be able to have desktop-only Signal. Why is a smart phone app still required? #privacy #surveillance #tech

@signalapp@mastodon.world I would rather like to do the opposite: using multiple Signal accounts on the same device. Even WhatsApp can do this.

@signalapp@mastodon.world I would like to be able to link more than 5 devices.

@signalapp@mastodon.world Awesome! Now I can link a tablet with no phone number to #signalapp as a separate account, right?

Great addition. Convenience and privacy don't have to be enemies 😉

@signalapp@mastodon.world On the Android app version 8.20.5 from GitHub, it looks like the option to link a phone is not there on this one's Pixel 8a. Using a LSPosed module to set the DPI to 600 makes the button appear, but then the app is basically unusable because it has the tablet layout instead of phone layout.

@signalapp@mastodon.world Hurray! Finally catching up with WA. You know, all tablets are foldable. Once.

@signalapp@mastodon.world This was a bit frustrating when I learned that I can have one phone.

@smokegravity@mas.to @signalapp@mastodon.world Linking to multiple Signal Desktop instances is already possible

@signalapp@mastodon.world Can we please get multiple desktop links? Having only one is a bit cumbersome. In part, because the desktop client is excellent, I appreciate it, and I want to use it in more than one place. One place where it's failing as a discord substitute is in sharing a screen with video/movement. It's like 5fps or so... Surely we can do better? Video calls are compressed but look pretty good and have decent frame rates. I assure you, as Discord moves to its tech fash ID law BS phase, you want to be as close to an out of the box replacement as possible. There is a massive demand for this if discord moves forward on nuking their user base. Edit: multiple desktop instances work fine! Whoops (8/12/26). The screen sharing ~5fps issue still needs a lot of work!
