Put MX Linux on the nice Latitude E7470 we bought a while ago because its time @vaviurka@social.tchncs.de's bitrotting ancient Windows machine gets retired. All seems to be working hardware wise so far.
Her software needs are simple: Firefox, LibreOffice, VLC, darktable, PDF thingie
But now the challenge: Getting Civ 5 with Vox Populi to work :-P

@yngmar@social.tchncs.de @vaviurka@social.tchncs.de I believe there was a native port of some Civilizations game made by Loki Software back in the day (1999?)... :) But yes, nothing close to Civ5 and modern computing.

Ok, got it working in plain Wine after far too much fucking about with Proton which actually doesn't run it (since the game removed the 2k launcher, for some reason). This is quite a nice machine to run Linux on. Everything worked out of the box, I don't think I've ever had that happen. Not just sound and Wifi but also the keyboard backlight, screen brightness, etc. And it has a trackpoint. Can't be a good laptop without. #Linux #MXLinux #Civ5 #LinuxGaming
