Next to enshittification I'd like to introduce 'enstupidification'. That one bothers me waaaayyy more. Phone:'Please enter your passcode, so you can't forget' Tablet: 'Every 24 hours we ask you to enter your pin, so you don't forget ' Banking app 'We noticed you have KDE Connect installed. Please uninstall, so you can use our mobile banking app'. 'You cannot use this service, without signing up'. Astonishing stupidity, wrapped in a, supposedly, security blanket. Statistically my time will be up in 35 years or so and I am happy to leave all that shit behind. Fuck it.

@thesaigoneer@social.linux.pizza Yeah, but to be fair, most nontechnical people are VERY bad with remembering and managing their credentials. Not using a password manager etc. It's just super frustrating if you have your shit together (e.g. being a poweruser) but the device/system assumes you to be a dummy 🙄

@thesaigoneer@social.linux.pizza all bad practices that have the illusion of security but are actually hostile to the user and cause more problems than what they claim to solve. Half of them are developers being "creative" with their own (bad) security measures, and the other half are just companies pushing users to be more locked in into their services and giving them more information.
