#homeoffice a French national who was not on board the ship but who had shared a flight with an infected passenger had also contracted the virus. #hantavirus https://time.com/article/2026/05/06/spanish-islands-refuse-to-take-hantavirus-ship-as-latest-patient-arrives-in-hospital/

The first passenger died almost a month ago of unknown cause. The passengers continued their trip around the world. 😬 #hantavirus https://www.bbc.com/news/articles/clype7ededzo

#hantavirus pandemic map since January 2025. It seems we simply overlooked it and washed our hands. 😬 https://elpais.com/sociedad/2026-05-07/como-se-ha-transmitido-el-hantavirus-explicacion-visual-del-brote-del-barco.html

The quarantine for the 14 Spaniards (probably) infected with the #hantavirus is „voluntary“. Spanish law requires you to agree to any form of quarantine as it restricts your freedom. 😵‍💫 https://mallorca-nieuws.nl/de-quarantaine-voor-de-14-spanjaarden-die-besmet-zijn-met-het-hantavirus-zal-vrijwillig-zijn/

@tobi82@swiss.social Here we go again... ONE case not connected to the known outbreak is proof of community transmission. The window to stop it by "ring quarantining" a single outbreak has already closed.
