Thought for the day - imagine if there was a financial cap on how much anyone could earn. If we look at author JK Rowling - apparently over $1 billion net worth - what would the impact have been if her earnings were capped (for arguments sake lets say at $1 million) and then all subsequent earnings were put into some kind of fund for new authors. Money would go towards encouraging more diverse authors, supporting those who wouldn't have had the privilege of an upbringing like many of our best selling authors - allowing them to have their books made and promoted equally within book stores? It is a sad society that allows this kind of cult of personality (or privilege) to prevail at the costs of others. Imagine the positive net impact on society if there were a hugely diverse range of writers, thinkers who were supported in their work - not banished from ever stepping foot in the industry, or forced to self-publish and whatever else.
