@jblue@mastodon.world Interesting research and tech, but I think 25% of a sky scraper's power doesn't yet sound that cost effective for a retrofit. What are major power consumers in a tower? Aircon, elevator motors, kitchens? Maybe I'm overlooking a lot, not being from somewhere with many (any?) such buildings. To my uneducated guess, a building like that with todays PV's, on that surface area would likely power the building and surrounding area, no? New building certainly a consideration, if buildings are necessary. I tend to live by Bergstrom's rules e.g: The "Too Good to Be True" Rule "If a result seems too good (or too bad) to be true, it probably is"
