This is not specific to womanhood or trans womanhood, but all types of trans people can experience phantom periods post surgical intervention or post HRT.
You may experience moodiness, bloating, cramps, and other premenstrual syndromes without actually having a real period. Trans men typically experience this after a full hysterectomy and trans women may experience this during some types of HRT.
If a trans woman is taking an improper dose of hormones or is having problems finding the correct dosage, she may have these symptoms weekly or bimonthly. I am not a doctor or a trans woman but this is usually a sign of an incorrect dose, you should discuss with your doctor if this is happening to you. Anecdotally, based on what trans women have told me, the number of phantom periods you experience as a trans woman should be between none, and once per month.
This is a controversial topic in the trans community for some reason. Trans women who have never struggled with dosages or with their hormone levels might not believe you if you experience this problem, simply because they have never experienced it.
