@Melezioh@mstdn.games it strikes me as similar to the “model minority” bind where it appears you have access to a level of privilege but that itself is a trap. It’s privilege with conditions, if you can even obtain it at all. And can be ripped away if you step out of line. The part where Devon says things changed the month after starting to take T just made me feel like “well, must be fucking nice I guess,” Meanwhile I have been on T for a year now and still am perceived as a woman no matter what I do. Also does not touch on the demonization of testosterone at all, which I see pretty regularly online and I think is a large component of this issue. I’ve enjoyed Devon’s writing in the past but this one is not a strong argument imo.

@polygonalhorse@goblin.camp Yea, definitely agree it’s privilege with conditions, one that many trans mascs don't ever get access to at all. And yea, Devon really came off with like there was some automatic privilege attained by taking t and saying I’m a guy. I definitely didn’t experience that and doubt many trans mascs do. That was a wild comment. Yea, the demonization of T is very prevalent and behind some of the issues trans mascs face for sure. Overall, I kind of got the vibe Devon was kind of biased against trans mascs and stressing privilege over oppression. At least Devon did acknowledge we experience misogyny and transphobia still but I think overall Devon was out of touch on this one, T. Devon seems to come from a fairy tale in Devon’s experience with T and transition that people don’t really generally experience. I’m not using pronouns as Devon stopped T and is presenting more fem so no idea on pronouns now.
