I understand if someone says they can't help and explain. I do not understand if they simply treat you as a pariah afterward for asking, especially if it's just the one time.

@cohentheblue@ohai.social I think for some people friendship is heavily predicated on a feeling of "being among equals" - so any sudden misfortune disrupts this. @nicklockwood@mastodon.social @morganth@social.tchncs.de
