Re: women getting promoted as a likelihood for abuse: Trad/RW groups know this stat well, and have a different takeaway - they argue that it's proof women shouldn't work outside the home or make demands on their husband (instead blindly trusting him to provide finances while she provides everything else). If women try to get uppity, that breaks the natural order of things, so it's no wonder they drive their husbands to "discipline" them.
