@Edent@mastodon.social True.. but look what it peaks at by about 18:00. Agile is always swings and roundabouts.. you have to be able to manage your electricity use quite carefully to win. Personally I stick to IOG.. I prefer having a known cheap rate overnight than having to react quickly.

@Edent@mastodon.social I dearly wish this was true of all the UK. Sadly not available in NI. Different grid, no smart metering, considerably less renewables too.

@Edent@mastodon.social How cool! I asked my cousin why more people in the desert region of California don't use solar panels to power their A/C and she very gently reminded me of a little complication called earthquakes!

@Edent@mastodon.social Meanwhile here, they tell us things like the power we sell back to the grid during the day isn't worth anything because there's so much of it. But they still charge us more for power we use.

@UkeleleEric@mstdn.social @CassandraVert@indieweb.social @Edent@mastodon.social Exactly. But I have no control over that. I can't save up power and offer it to them at night. It goes when it's ready. And when it's ready is daylight hours. We have a battery too.

@Edent@mastodon.social iirc part of this is that most of wind production is in Scotland and there are not enough grid connections from up there to England, so the energy goes to waste...
