Well, that was a fun trip home. Burst water main on the primary route into the main city centre bus station, so everything going to/from the south of the city is on diversion. Roadworks on one of the standard diversion routes. Oh, the trams? Those are closed for engineering works. They do have replacement buses running... I could have got a train, but the relevant train company has cut its frequency owing to anticipated bad weather. Besides, they're probably overcrowded with all the people who would normally use the tram or bus. Also, it is a match night, plus there is a gig on at the Arena. I left work early and went and got my alternative route bus, which was on a very small diversion, probably just to avoid the area that had become an impromptu terminus for some of the route numbers, and was still calling at my stop. It should normally take less time than the one I normally get; I just don't use it routinely because my stop doesn't have seating and the bus station does. Naturally, I got the one that had to stop everywhere to let loads of people on and off, and thus was overtaken by the one behind it. It was also on a road full of buses on diversion. An hour later than I should have got home, I am finally here.
