NEW: Governments are abusing online ads to infect people's phones and computers with zero-click spyware, per Citizen Lab. Al Jazeera had ~45 devices hacked this way, simply by visiting a website that displayed a malicious ad. Researchers say it's tip of the iceberg.

@zackwhittaker@mastodon.social Thanks for linking to the @citizenlab@mastodon.social report! Am I correct that no one seems to know (or admit to knowing) what vulnerabilities are being exploited in these 0-click attacks, and there's no fix except installing ad blockers?
