Hey now, in Germany it’s also the urban poor! It depends on whether the place is doing well economically or not, and some urban areas in Germany are doing really badly (e.g. Gelsenkirchen and other poor cities in the Ruhr area).

In the US the urban poor are often people of color, which are made to be a boogie man by the rural conservative right, mainly due to racism. So the urban poor are not as likely to vote for them.
