@jamesbannan@aus.social they’re all flat-pack, AFAIK. You’ll be paying your installer to assemble them if you can’t do it yourself. It may be cheaper to buy assembled cabinets from another supplier. You’re just buying the units/handles/worktops/handles etc. You’re on your own after delivery. We’ve had one and it was mostly fine. The coating/finish on one of the doors had started to fail. The system changed year after we bought the kitchen so we couldn’t replace it. (We‘ve since moved house)

@jamesbannan@aus.social I have a hybrid IKEA/Bunnings (Kaboodle) laundry I’m working on right now. Ask away!

@jamesbannan@aus.social good luck to you. I put together a table and chairs set from IKEA once and the first step in the instruction book was to throw away some of the tools that came with the set. Like, the graphic showed putting them in a trash can. That was like 2011 or so.

@jamesbannan@aus.social Yes have done it. I thought it was fun. I had a list, but it is gone... somewhere.... From memory and 18000km from the scene of the crime: Setup a comfortable temporary kitchen. Get a laser level, a very fine tooth panel saw, a rock solid replaceable razor blade (Stanley) knife, a decentish cordless drill with a low speed setting (not the IKEA one) and two batteries. Take many many measurements, plenty of time, photographs with the measuring tape for scale, _everything_ out of the existing kitchen. Yes the floor coverings, yes the tiles, yes the old paint, yes the plasterboard, yes the floorboards if they're tired. Scrape it all back to the bones. Then go to Ikea and talk until your jaw hurts.

@jamesbannan@aus.social One thing we noticed with IKEA built in wardrobes was that they come in 500, 750, 1000 mm sizes whereas everywhere else does 300, 600, 900 mm sizes. (Sorry if this doesn't apply to their kitchen stuff)
