I'm feeling like a Bad Queer for failing to be at either Nottingham Pride or London Trans+ Pride today. But the fact that I'm struggling to stay awake, and it's only three weeks since I had to be saved from a collapse by mountain rescue is a reminder that even if emotionally I could cope with the crowd, my body would have a hard time of it.

@sparrowsion@meow.social You're not a "Bad Queer". I know that someone saying that doesn't always help with what's going on inside, with that work, but I find external perspectives glower from the field edges as we toil like the shedim (but nice, nice shedim. Fairies maybe. Except the shedim have rather monopolised field-edge glowering, haven't they? Fairies have the hedge thing covered, but glowering is rarely reported).

@sparrowsion@meow.social There's a story that during WW1 some Bloomsburyish poet was accosted by a middle-aged lady who demanded to know why he wasn't off in the trenches fighting to save civilization. "Madam,", he supposedly said, "I am the civilization they are fighting to save." (So far as I can make out, the story isn't actually true, but it's a good story anyway.) Those pride events are _for_ you much more than they're _demanded of_ you. You should feel zero guilt or shame about not going if going is difficult.
